Literacy

Supported by our library, and celebrations such as Book Week and our annual Book Fair, we work to build capable and enthusiastic readers and writers. Our literacy program begins with the Read Write Inc phonics program for all students in Reception to Year 2. This program provides the building blocks of reading and writing through regular, targeted, small group learning. From Year 3 to 6, students’ reading and writing is supported through programs such as Smart Spelling, and tracked through Lexile reading levels.

Literacy Intervention:

Some students require additional support to achieve. We offer programs such as Fast Track, which builds on Read Write Inc. for students in Reception to Year 2, and Fresh Start, which provides foundational literacy learning to students from Years 3-6. We also work with Student Support Services to provide regular support for students requiring additional speech and language development.
